VIUP Deputy Director received delegation from Korea Housing Builders Association

On October 3rd, 2019, Deputy Director Pham Thi Thanh Hoa received Mr. Lee Song-Jae - Director of the Korea Housing Builders Association, Mr. Kim Tae-Seop - Senior Research Director of the Korea Housing Institute and Mr. Eom Hyun-Tae - Researcher of the Korea Housing Institute. At the working session, there were also heads of the center for Information, training and international cooperation as well as the experts in social housing field.

Speeking at the meeting, Mr. Kim Tae-Seop informed that the Korea Housing Builders Association represents 7,000 Korean housing builders providing 200,000 homes each year. The Association supports home building activities and promotes the growth of housing industry in Korea and overseas. The Korea housing institute is the research organ of the Association which studies housing policies, housing institutions, housing market and housing industry of South Korea and beyond. As an internationalization effort of the Korea housing industry, the Association has commissioned the Institute to study housing policies and markets of various countries in Asia on a yearly basis. This year they are studying the Vietnamese housing market to help Korean construction companies build homes in Vietnam and contribute to the development of Vietnamese housing industry and the increase of housing stock. They have collected information on the Vietnamese housing market through documents, a consumer survey and interviews with experts of the field. They are planning visits to organizations in Vietnam in charge of housing and home builders in order to be informed of the most recent development and listen to the opinions of leaders.

Beside this, Korean researchers had learned about information concerning urban housing policies in Vietnam (especially in Hanoi and Hochiminh city), urban development strategies, long-term prospect of urban growth and housing in Vietnam. They also paid attention to Vietnam housing market, urban housing development trend. They also shared their experients in housing development in Seoul.

VIUP's experts introduced briefly its organization structures and main functions; the national housing development strategies to 2020 and vision to 2030 as well as urban and real estate development trends in Vietnam.

Mr. Kim Tae-Seop expressed their thanks to VIUP's experts. He said that they are ready to exchange information on building and housing issues in Korea with VIUP.

The deputy director Pham Thi Thanh Hoa appreciated the visit of the delegation. VIUP's experts shared the basis information which Korean researchers were interested in. However, she suggested if the Korean researchers want to learn more about the guidelines and policies of Hanoi, they should contact to the organs under the Hanoi people's commitee such as Hanoi Urban Planning Institute (HUPI). She wished them get best results during the visit to Vietnam.
