Opening ceremony of Exhibition “Hanoi Capital Regional Construction Plan up to 2030, vision to 2050” and scientific conference commemorating 60th anniversary of foundation of VIUP

On series of activities commemorating 60th anniversary of foundation of Vietnam Institute for Urban and Rural Planning (VIUP), on November 25, 2016, the opening ceremony of Exhibition “Hanoi Capital Regional Construction Plan up to 2030, vision to 2050” and scientific conference was held by VIUP at the National Architecture, Planning and Construction Exhibition Hall.

Attending on the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Dinh Toan, leaders of units under Ministry of Construction, leaders and representatives of people’s committees and construction departments of ten provinces in the Hanoi capital region, representatives of professional associations such as Vietnam Association of Architects (VAA), Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association (VUPDA), international organizations and foreign enterprises such as JICA (Japan); IMV (France); Almec (Japan); Arep Ville (France); Nikken Sekkei (Japan); ONHP (Russia), G8, S-Design…

Speaking at the ceremony, General Director Ngo Trung Hai briefly introduced the plan. Under Decision 768/QD-TTg, dated May 6, 2016 of the PM, the Ha Noi capital region consists of Ha Noi and nine neighboring provinces namely Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang.

Three provinces (Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen and Bac Giang) were recently added to the region, bringing the region’s total regional area from 13,000 sq.km to over 24,000 sq.km.

In order to propagate the contents of the plan to residents, managers, enterprises, organizations and individuals, VIUP organized the exhibition “Hanoi Capital Regional Construction Plan up to 2030, vision to 2050” at the National Architecture, Planning and Construction Exhibition Hall. He said due to challenges in the implementation so the Prime Minister had required the concerned ministries and provinces in the region to look for suitable management models and close  coordination between ministries, agencies and localities.

Then, the delegators were invited to see the models, panels and drawing of “Hanoi Capital Regional Construction Plan up to 2030, vision to 2050”, displayed on the second floor of the National Architecture, Planning and Construction Exhibition Hall.

After the opening ceremony of the exhibition the scientific conference commemorating 60th anniversary of foundation of VIUP was taken place.

This conference focused on looking back research results of scientists, staffs in past time as well as to discuss the new research orientations of the institute in the coming years. It is also a forum for managers, specialists, partners to exchange the experiences in the fields of planning and construction planning management.

There were four presentations expressed at the conference. Vietnamese and foreign experts concentrated on following topics: research on renewing urban planning formulation in Vietnam; Experiences on urban planning formulation in Japan and lessons for Vietnam; From concepts to planning drawings – projects in cooperation with VIUP; introducing the experiences of Russia on maritime spatial planning; new problems in urban technical infrastructure planning.

In general, presentations and opinions exchanged at the conference touched with new research orientations of VIUP such as: renewing urban planning formulation, planning for green cities and ecological cities, planning for urban environmental infrastructure, responding to climate change, urban design, architecture and landscape, new rural construction planning
